SONI has recently published a Call for Evidence on the Market Procurement Options for Long Duration Storage. The Call for Evidence can be found through the SONI Consultation Portal (linked here), or through the SONI website.

 

Inside the Call for Evidence, we explore the need for Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) to act as a key facilitator in the mass integration of renewables going forward. Additionally, the paper seeks views on whether the current market mechanisms provide the required financial incentives. Multiple potential solutions to solve the incentivisation issue are discussed.

 

We welcome feedback on the questions posed within the paper. These responses should be submitted through the SONI Consultation Portal no later than 16:00 on 24th November 2023. Please note all responses will be published on the SONI Consultation Portal if not explicitly stated as confidential on the submitted cover page.

 

Additionally, a workshop will be held in Dundalk to highlight the key areas in the Call for Evidence and allow time for questions and clarifications.
