EirGrid is proposing a new reinforcement to the network in North Kerry. This will see a new 220kV electricity substation, planned for the east of Listowel.
Construction works for the North Kerry (also called Knockanure) substation have now been completed. All 220kV & 110kV civil and electrical works have been completed at this substation. All 110kV GIS testing works have also completed. Commissioning of the substation is currently on going.
The 220kV & 110kV elements of the project are on course to energise in Q3 & Q4 2015 respectively.
