SEMO Publishes Provisional Capacity Auction Results

A total of 1,471 megawatts (MW) of capacity has been awarded in a T-3 Capacity Auction run by the Single Electricity Market Operator (SEMO) on January 20th.

Under the provisional results published today, 1,447 MW of new gas-fired generators, battery storage facilities, demand side units and a biomass plant were awarded capacity. A further 24 MW of existing generation was also successful, bringing the total to 1,471 MW.

Under the rules for this T-3 auction, the new capacity is expected to be delivered by October 2024 at the earliest and no later than March 2026. It was run on the instructions of the all-island regulatory body the Single Electricity Market Committee.
